Arabic Translator/Linguist - TechWise Global - United Arabic Emirates (UAE) Level: Experienced Position Type: Full Time Education Level: 4 Year Degree Travel: 0% Contingent on Contract Award Job Summary Arabic translator/linguist will support a Roles and Missions workstream to review existing client organizational capabilities. The Arabic translator/linguist will operate as part of a diverse Team of highly trained Subject Matter Experts (SME) conducting a Roles and Missions Review of the client organization. Work as part of a multi-faceted team and act as a liaison with non-English speaking Arabic individuals as needed. Translate English language narrative into well-written Arabic prose; interpret documents written in English to Arabic and from Arabic to English. The translator will translate concepts, correspondence, and edit and proofread technical documents. This specialist must be fully capable of functioning semi-independently and in a multi-cultural team environment. Specific qualifications and related information are described below. Essential Functions Translation of all documents as requested from English to Arabic and from Arabic to English Translation of random certificates, licenses and applications as required Documentation and file management of translations, as well as other translation support required by the project Collaborate closely with the primary English SME in the development of assigned products and liaise with other non-English speaking Arabic individuals as requested Research specialized terminology for translate into Arabic assuring proper conversion of meaning and concept of original English text Read through original English material and translate it into Arabic Language, ensuring that the meaning of the source text is retained Use specialist dictionaries, thesauruses, glossaries and reference books to find the closest Arabic equivalents for English defense terminology and phrases Liaise and communicate with the customer/project staff to discuss any content requiring clarification Proofread and edit final translated Arabic products to ensure alignment with the original English text Provide the client with a grammatically correct and accurate final version of the translated text, usually as a Microsoft Word or PowerPoint document Use the Internet and email as research tools throughout the translation process Meet or exceed all assigned translation deadlines Consults with SMEs in specialist areas as required Required Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Translation Minimum 3-5 years of translation experience in the UAE, KSA, Kuwait, or similar Gulf country Valid Passport (at least 6 months from expiration) Must pass all security checks Advanced Microsoft Office skills Advanced Communication and Relationship Management Skills Self-Motivated and adaptive worker capable of working in a multi-cultural team environment Strongly Desired Qualifications and Professional Experiences Arabic: Excellent Reading, Writing, Speaking, and Listening Advanced English: Excellent Reading, Writing, Speaking, and Listening Computer Literacy: Adobe, MS Office Knowledge of computer applications Experience drafting and finalizing technical and non-technical Arabic publications NOTE: The preceding job description has been designed to indicate the general nature and level of work performed by employees with this classification.
